The entire song was so inspiring, but these lyrics really stuck out to me:
Momma said I should reconsider law school
That means I wear a suit and been a troop and feel awful
Hell naw, Got a degree but what that cost you
You make a good salary just to pay Sally May
That's real as ever
Ducking bill collectors like Jehova's witness
When they showed up at your door at Christmas --Blow Up
So true! Cole speaks the truth in these lyrics.
We go to school to get a good education to get a good job. That's it, that's what we're taught to do. JOB=Just Over Broke. That's not the way to financial freedom. I want to be able to do whatever I want, whenever I want. I want residual income, I want royalties. Wealthy people don't have jobs.
I want to help people around the world, I don't want to always have to worry about my own back all the time. I want to change the world.
I remember when Cole came to Toronto for a concert he mentioned that most of the people there were broke students, and how he was like us once. And after we leave school we won't be broke students, we'll just be broke. True dat!
Well a stable job is not the life for me, I know exactly what I want. I don't know what's gonna happen on my way there but I know exactly where I'll be once I reach there. J Cole is such an inspiration, he followed his dreams and he worked hard. It won't be long till I get to where I gotta be.
